IKA - "The International Korczak Association" for Peace and Democracy
IKA (The International Janusz Korczak Association) is a Federation of organisations dedicated to the work of Janusz Korczak around the world. The Association initiates and supports projects inspired by Korczak's pedagogy and devoted to children's rights. IKA’s Headquarters is registered in Warsaw, the city of Korczak, at the original address of one of Korczak’s Democratic Homes. The IKA was founded in 1979 on the initiative of Poland, Israel, Russia, Germany and Switzerland. It currently consists of 48 organisations from many countries, across 6 continents, including France, Lithuania, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Brazil, Japan, Australia, Canada, UK, USA, Congo and the Ivory Coast, Tunesia, Hungary, and Sweden.
