Children's and Youth Perspectives: Voices in Their Own Narratives and Socio-Educational Contexts

Date: February 5–6. Place: Dusseldorf, Germany, Hochschule Düsseldorf - University of Applied Sciences.................... No participation fee for ESA and IKA members

The upcoming conference Children's and Youth Perspectives: Voices in Their Own Narratives and Socio-Educational Contexts invites scholars, educators, and practitioners to explore the ways in which children and youth express their experiences, identities, and agency within educational and social environments........................................................................... . We particularly welcome contributions that engage with the sociology of education and the legacy of Janusz Korczak, whose pioneering work emphasized children's rights, dignity, and participatory education. Korczak’s vision aligns with contemporary discussions on how children’s voices are heard—or silenced—in schools, families, and broader socio-educational settings. We invite submissions on topics including, but not limited to: • Children’s agency in education: How do children shape and influence their educational experiences? • Youth perspectives on social justice and equity in education • Janusz Korczak’s educational philosophy and its relevance today • Participatory methodologies in researching children’s voices • Children’s rights, democracy, and inclusion in educational settings • Intersections of sociology of education and childhood studies • Narrative approaches to understanding children’s lived experiences • Digital and media representations of children’s voices • Challenges in fostering authentic child participation in education
