The European Janusz Korczak Academy All of us desire freedom, love, to be allowed to ask questions and give answers. Suddenly, we begin to live, to show our hidden potential. A new member of society is born. The world is richer for it. Janusz Korczak pursued this dream with almost unparalleled tenacity. He held fast to it even when, all around him, life showed its most inhuman face during the time he worked as a pediatrician and educator in a Warsaw orphanage for Jewish children. Everyday he considered the problems of interacting with children anew. Despite adverse conditions, he fought for children's right to free development of the spirit, and then, finally, he fought to save their lives. The European Janusz Korchak Academy is an educational institution that strives to follow in Janusz Korczak's footsteps. Its goal is to question and seek answers that mobilize the individual, the family, and society as a whole and give them a voice in their own affairs as Janusz Korczak wished. The approach is tiqqun olam “rescuing the world“ through education and training. The European Janusz Korczak Academy is a Jewish initiative founded in 2009 which is open to all sectors of society. Its goal is to strengthen the Jewish community, to open it to the world and dispel prejudices and preconceptions on all sides. The Academy's program is based on practical training and education – both formal and informal. It seeks and supports education that looks for the human side of those we encounter face-to-face. Both person to person contact and pan-European exchange are part of its program. The Academy offers family programs, seminars and pilot projects with scientific and humanitarian goals. Guests are invited to share their knowledge and provide material for discussion . Children's rights and human rights remain our central concern. The European Janusz Korczak Academy sponsors yearly “Janusz Korczak - Children's Rights Days” with workshops, lectures and cultural events based on Janusz Korczak's life and work. Our projects are supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs, the Claims Conference, the European Commission and the Provincial Capital Munich.
